Harmonized inflation rises in April
Harmonized inflation came in at 8.7% in April, up from March’s 8.0%. Looking at the details of the release, housing and utilities prices rose at a quicker pace in April compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transportation picked up pace.
Annual average harmonized inflation rose to 9.8% in April (March: 9.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 8.2% in April, from the previous month’s 7.6%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.90% in April over the previous month, following the 0.77% increase seen in March. April’s uptick was the highest reading since October 2022.
